Shepherd takes charge of Vodafone consumer arm
Vodafone’s Ian Shepherd has taken over the running of the mobile giant’s consumer business.
The former strategy and business director has been made consumer business director with immediate effect which will see him take charge of all UK stores, products and services.
Voda bosses say there will be a recruitment in due course to fill Shepherd’s former role.
Shepherd is credited with brokering Vodafone’s Phones 4u deal and the operator’s retail redesign.
He was appointed commercial director in January 2006 having joined from BskyB, where he was in charge of all commercial interactive television activities.
Shepherd’s new role comes as part of a second shake-up by Voda chief Nick Read in just nine months.
A spokeswoman for Vodafone said: ‘Former consumer business director Craig Tillotson has accepted a role in our group marketing team.
‘Ian Shepherd has moved across from his position as strategy and new business director to a consumer role.
‘He will be in charge of all our stores, looking after all our consumer products and services.
‘Online director Karen Thompson will be covering the strategy and new business development role for the time being. There is a recruitment in the pipeline.
‘The changes have taken place with immediate effect.’
