New detectives join mobile crime unit

The National Mobile Phone Crime Unit (NMPCU) has employed two new detectives to boost its fight against mobile phone criminals.

Detective chief inspector Jeannie Haggerty has taken over most of the day-to-day running of the NMPCU, while detective inspector Steve Leonard will look after
the enforcement side of the unit.

DCI Haggerty has joined from Tower Hamlets Metropolitan Police Service, where she was also detective chief inspector, while DI Steve Leonard has come from Hounslow Metropolitan Police Service.

NMPCU intelligence manager Chris Paice said: ‘They are both experienced detectives and provide a lot of new ideas for the direction of the unit.’
