Phone 4u’s new commissions
Phones 4u’s new cut-throat commission structure has angered staff, with workers claiming that it will lead to an unsavoury working environment and favours employees in larger stores.
Complaints were sent to Mobile after we revealed the new structure in last week’s issue, which will see staff rewarded for gross profit rather than volume.
Of key concern was that new rates will further sour relationships between sales staff. One employee, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘The atmosphere in stores is competitive as it is and this will make it worse.’
The changes mean staff will need to bring in £9,000 profit from sales per month to receive the full amount of commission. However, Mobile’s annual salary survey suggests Phones 4u sales assistants receive among the highest basic wage in mobile retail.
