Three quarters of sales still 2G
The sale of 3G handsets is failing to take up significant share away from 2G sales. Almost three quarters of handsets sold in December were 2G handsets. This is an improvement from the previous year, when 2G handset made up 85% of all December handset sales. Throughout the year, the split of 3G and 2G handsets sold yo-yoed around the 76% mark, with the majority of handsets sold staying strongly on the 2G side.
