Sony Ericsson walked away with the prize for best handset at the 13th annual GSM Association (GSMA) awards in Barcelona last night.
The award ceremony, hosted by Graham Norton, featured an appearance by Hollywood legend Robert Redford, ahead of his keynote speech at the congress today.
Judges described Sony Ericsson’s W910 as ‘a superb all-rounder’, with ‘a compelling, easy to use design’.
Sony Ericsson president Dick Komiyama commented: ‘The W910 makes it quicker and easier to transfer or download music. It's also about thinking beyond music, to games, videos and the web.’
3’s Skypephone was also ‘highly commended’ for offering ‘extremely good value for money with a wide range of features not previously seen at this price point’.
Omnifone, which announced a deal with LG to bring out its own music enabled device, won ‘best mobile music service’.
And Windows Mobile 6 picked up the award for ‘best mobile enterprise or product’.
