Vodafone in talks over Bangladesh network

Vodafone is reported to be in talks with Bangladesh’s second-largest network over a 30% stake in the business.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Vodafone wants to purchase a 30% stake in AKTEL for around £152m.

With only 23% of the population of Bangladesh owning a mobile phone, Bangladesh is considered to be one of Asia’s most promising countries for mobile growth opportunities.

Vodafone recently bought a 67% share in Hutchison Essar, the third largest network in India.
