Networks update mast info site
Ofcom this week confirmed that operators have ended a row with the regulator and resumed updating its Sitefinder website with details of their phone masts.
The Sitefinder website, which is run by Ofcom, relies on networks volunteering information about the location and characteristics of their mobile phone base stations.
Operators had argued that such information was commercially sensitive and could harm their businesses.
A spokeswoman for Ofcom said the progress came after ‘constructive discussions’ with the networks.
3, O2, Orange, Vodafone and Network Rail all supply data to Ofcom at approximately three-month intervals. T-Mobile has not provided any updated data since August 2005.
