TalkTalk Managing Director Thatcher quits
Carphone’s TalkTalk MD, David Thatcher, has quit the company after two years running the retailer’s low-cost broadband business.
There is no indication that he has found a new role. He will be replaced by American Wendy Becker, who has been a partner at McKinsey in London for the past 10 years.
Thatcher joined after the high-profile free broadband launch in 2006, and the unprecedented demand and customer service problems that followed.
Thatcher worked closely with Carphone CEO Charles Dunstone and Telecoms COO David Goldie in unbundling the exchanges, building up the TalkTalk brand and fixing the customer service problems.
‘We’ve been pioneers so we’ve had a few arrows in our backsides,’ he told Mobile in September last year.
