Head of Mobile Devices at Motorola resigns

Motorola’s president for Mobile Devices, Stu Reed announced his resignation on Friday, having only served eight months at the position. The news come only a few days after the company’s chief marketing officer, Casey Keller, decided to leave his position at the troubled handset maker.

Greg Brown, president and chief executive officer at Motorola said in a prepared statement: ‘We appreciate Stu’s many contributions to Motorola and wish him the best in the future.’

Motorola’s market share has been declining for a while already, and although analysts expected disappointing financial results for 2007, the £195 million losses were a worse than predicted. The handset maker has been more successful in its home market, in the US. However, its prospects there seem to be getting bleaker, with Sony Ericsson and Nokia intending to make a push for more market share in the US this year.
