Ofcom reports increase in slamming
Ofcom says mis-selling is becoming an ever increasing problem after seeing a rise in complaints during 2007.
The regulator says complaints are running at around 400 a month from people who felt they had been mis-sold a mobile contract by unscrupulous middlemen pretending to be from their network.
Despite reaching an agreement last year with the networks and retailers on a code of practice, Ofcom has seen little reduction in complaints.
An Ofcom spokesman said: ‘We're reviewing the whole area of mis-selling at the moment.
‘We'll have more to say on this matter within a couple of months. But the key aim is to make the networks far more accountable for sales practices.’
