Sun newspaper merging print with mobile video
The Sun is placing another eight-page pull-out in its newspaper next month to promote a new mobile technology merging print with mobile video.
The QR (quick response) barcode-based technology enables users to scan their mobile phone over pages of the newspaper, which uploads relevant information onto the device. For example, a football fan could read a match report and use the technology to upload video highlights.
The technology is sparking strong interest, with Google recently announcing that its new Android operating system will support the software and Sky using the barcodes to promote its TV show Lost recently in a large advertising campaign.
The Sun’s mobile content service achieved success after the first pull-out, which saw around 11,000 users download the software.
