3 slashes the price of its prepay dongles
3 has slashed the cost of its prepay dongles as mobile broadband continues to grow in popularity.
The network has reduced the cost of its USB modems, which are needed for customers to access mobile broadband from their laptops, from £99.99 to £69.99.
As well as the cut-price dongle, 3's pay-as-you-go customers still get the same mobile broadband deal as contract customers.
For £10, customers get GB per month, for £15 they get 3GB and for £25 they get 7GB.
Jonathan Lutz, head of mobile broadband at 3, said: ‘We're always striving to bring the best value to our customers.
‘Mobile broadband is a fantastic service and we feel it should be affordable for all our customers, whether they're on contract or pay-as-you-go.’
Sales of dongles reached 18,000 per week at the beginning of March, and are continuing to rise.
Vodafone’s retail staff say that stores are running out of dongles within two days of receiving the stock, and 3 staff say that dongle sales for March are 200% over target.
