Nokia opens up 10% lead in UK handset market
Nokia has stretched its lead in the UK market in recent months, sitting 10% ahead of Sony Ericsson, its nearest competitor.
Nokia is sitting at around a 36% share of the UK market, with Sony Ericsson at 26%, and Samsung not far off.
Sales of both the 6500 Classic and Slide contributed, but the N95 continues to be the main driver of sales in both the original version as well as the 8GB. Volumes appear to be mainly driven through the continued appetite in the prepay market with cheap phones such as the 2600, 2310 and 1200 selling in large numbers.
