Vodafone continues distribution culling with Dextra

Dextra is Vodafone’s third distributor casualty since November 2006 after it terminated its account with Fone Logistics, and Hugh Symons at the end of December 2006.

It leaves Avenir and Redstone as the only distributors who do contracts for Vodafone.

The operator has been pulling away from the indirect channel for consumer connections, relying solely on Phones 4u and building up its direct channels – stores and website.

Vodafone is reckoned to be connecting around 70% of its contract base through its direct channels now.

Indirect chief for Vodafone’s enterprise unit, Rob Sandford, has become head of corporate sales. He is temporarily being replaced by Dale Parkinson.

Even in Vodafone’s enterprise business (the only area it wants to use dealers), a growing chunk of Vodafone’s customers are being funnelled through Vodafone’s direct team or Yes Telecom, which Vodafone owns

As far as the other networks are concerned, 3, O2 and Orange confirmed that they are still trading with Dextra.
