Lebara customer base grows 200% per month

Virtual operator Lebara Mobile has been awarded permission to use the universally recognised Electronic Top-Up (ETU) point of sale logo in the UK.

Lebara qualified for the right to use the logo by reaching more than 66% penetration of UK retail outlets actively selling Lebara Mobile airtime.

The MVNO provides low-cost calls to UK ethnic residents and has seen its customer base grow by 200% month-on-month since it was launched in October 2007.

Jon Fawcett, Lebara’s head of marketing, said: ‘We have seen a 200% month-by-month growth in our customer numbers since we launched. It has been quite extraordinary.’
