NMPCU reveals new phones will be targeted

The National Mobile Phone Crime Unit (NMPCU) is keeping a close eye on new technology it fears will be targeted by thieves over the next year.

The NMPCU has highlighted the expected launch of the Google phone and mobile phones merged with credit cards at its third annual conference in Bedfordshire last week.

NMPCU intelligence manager Chris Paice said the aim of the conference was to prioritise the unit’s targets for the coming 12 months.

Having already worked with Apple to try and prevent the iPhone being a target for criminals, the NMPCU is monitoring the release of the eagerly anticipated Google device and phones that can be used to pay for products and services such as O2’s Wallet.
