T-Mobile has added new prepay incentives
T-Mobile is trying to generate greater spending from its existing pay-as-you-go customers by introducing new incentives.
The network will introduce ‘Top Up & Stretch’ – a scheme offering a free top-up for the weekend if they top-up mid-week. It comes after the operator launched ‘Top Up Friday’, which offers free texts at the weekend if customers top up by £10 on a Friday.
T-Mobile has also made prepay a major focus for the business after trying to cut out the expensive acquisition costs in the contract market.
The contract market is seen by several operators as bereft of new customers and too competitive to cut prices.
T-Mobile’s head of prepay, Chris Barrow, said some prepay customers have been using up to 600 texts over a weekend.
T-Mobile has made prepay and retention a key area since the start of the year.
‘I think city investors want to see we are getting more revenue from our existing business,’ added Barrow.
