Carphone Warehouse cuts TalkTalk broadband link
Carphone Warehouse is separating its telecoms business, which includes AOL and TalkTalk, from its retail and distribution business. It appears that the two operations need to run as distinctive entities to boost the retail business’ impartiality credentials.
Carphone’s share price fell 10% after the retailer announced its Q4 results for the first few months of 2008 on Tuesday this week.
A shortfall in broadband connections, around 10,000 less than expected, is believed to be a significant factor behind the drop in the share price.
The retail business produced more positive figures, with a 12% rise in mobile connections, bringing the overall figure to 2.7m.
