Motorola’s troubles continue in 1Q results
Motorola’s first quarter results show that its handset sales continue to fall. Compared the first three months of last year, the sales of the manufacturer’s handset division were down 39%. Operating losses also increased quarter on quarter, from £ 117 last year to £ 211 at the end of March. In total, the company shipped a total of 27.4 million handsets.
During the quarter, Motorola announced its decision to separate the struggling handsets division from the rest of the company.
‘We made an important strategic decision to separate the Company, creating two independent, publicly traded entities. Improving the product portfolio in Mobile Devices and positioning both businesses for future success remains a top priority,’ Greg Brown, Motorola’s CEO said in a prepared statement.
