Half of mobile customers dissatisfied with operators

Just under half of mobile customers are not satisfied with their operator, Which? magazine’s customer satisfaction study reveals. Tesco is the best for pay as you go deals and Virgin for contract, according to the survey. But even the highest scores weren’t higher than 70%.

Vodafone and Orange received the lowest points for contract, while T-Mobile’s prepay service scored just as low. All scored around 50%.

Jess Ross, Editor, which.co.uk, said: ‘Long gone are the days when mobile phones were just for talking and texting; they now double up as MP3 players, digital cameras and personal organisers, too.  But, without a single mobile phone service awarded a Best Buy in our survey, clearly the industry has some catching up to do when it comes to meeting its customers’ expectations.’

A spokeswoman said: 'Vodafone UK is concerned to see these results as they differ considerably from our own and other independent surveys. We welcome all customer feedback and as a result, call 1,500 of our customers every day to assess our service. Through this we know 76% of our customers are satisfied or very satisfied with our service. Vodafone UK also has the lowest number of customers leaving its network in the UK mobile market.
