HMV to expand range of music-playing mobiles
HMV will expand its range of music-playing mobile phones as part of its new ‘Next Generation’ store role out.
The retailer has recently turned its ailing fortunes around, recording an impressive set of annual results that showed a 7.3% rise in sales compared to the previous year. A more interactive range of gadgets, including mobiles, is thought to be a key factor behind the revival.
HMV spokesperson, Gennaro Castaldo, said: ‘We’ve had so much interest in the music mobile area and are expanding our range. It has engaged with our customers and we feel that it’s an opportunity to build on. Mobile will be one of the technological areas within our Next Generation stores.’
HMV is currently trialing several ‘Next Generation’ stores around the country. Castaldo claimed that one of those, the Dudley based store, had seen a 25% rise in sales since the Next Generation format was introduced.
