Mobile Phone Xchange tackles mobile waste
Mobile Phone Xchange (MPX), a UK phone recycling company, sells unwanted mobiles to developing nations for a fraction of their UK value to tackle mobile waste.
MPX’s managing director, Geoff Walters, said: ‘There is a strong demand for used mobiles in the developing world. This scheme makes mobile services more affordable to many more and is a very positive step forward.’
The average life of a mobile phone in the UK is 18 months, and around 15 million mobiles in the UK are thrown into landfills or left lying in cupboards and draws. Every hour 1,700 mobile phones are dumped by Britons.
