Tesco increases its standalone telecoms stores
Tesco has increased the number of its dedicated standalone telecoms stores to 20.
The supermarket giant trialled nine specialist telecoms stores attached to its largest Tesco Extra supermarkets in 2007. After the success of the stores, Tesco has rolled out another 11 so far this year with plans for more on the way.
The stores are staffed by specialist advisers selling broadband, internet
phones, accessories, and contract and prepay phones, with the aim of having the look, feel and expertise of a Carphone Warehouse or Phones 4u store.
A spokeswoman for Tesco said: ‘We are very pleased with how successful our telecoms centres have been. There are plans for more to follow and that will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.’
