Omnifone's MusicStation Max about to launch

Omnifone will launch its MusicStation Max unlimited music download handset in partnership with LG in the next few months.

A spokesman for Omnifone told Mobile: ‘We will be making an announcement this summer.’

The company said it would bring out the handset before Nokia launches its similar proposition, Comes With Music, which is due to come out in the second half of this year.

Nokia has signed up two of the four major record labels, Universal Music and Sony BMG, for the service, and rumours are rife about EMI coming to an agreement with Nokia. Getting all four major labels may delay Nokia’s launch.

Omnifone has an existing relationship with all the labels for its MusicStation service, and it only needs to extend those agreements for MusicStation Max.

The initial launch will be in partnership with LG, but Omnifone is in talks with other handset manufacturers for a similar proposition.
