JAG Communications foils credit card fraud
A man has been arrested for attempted fraud by Wiltshire police, after a credit card scam was foiled by staff working at a JAG Communications store in Devizes.
Stolen credit cards and fraudulent details were used to obtain over 30 handsets, including high-end phones such as the LG Viewty and BlackBerry 8120, from a number of JAG branches.
Staff in two Wiltshire stores became suspicious after being asked to perform a credit check ‘as quickly as possible’ over the phone.
JAG’s troubleshooting team, which was working in another store nearby at the time, detained the man in question when he arrived at JAG’s Devizes store to pick up the handsets he had asked for over the telephone.
Managing director of JAG John George said: ‘All the staff in our stores communicate with each other on a regular basis and this high level of co-operation across our retail branches helps to identify and eliminate issues like this promptly.’
