Communication Workers Union to hold annual conference
Delegates representing 250,000 UK communications workers will meet in Liverpool this weekend for the annual Communication Workers Union’s (CWU) conference.
Delegates will discuss and debate a range of issues faced by workers in the UK’s telecommunications, postal, logistics and financial services industries during the week-long summit.
CWU general secretary Billy Hayes (pictured), who will head the conference, said: ‘For us, the fight to defend our members’ rights goes hand-in-hand with the fight to defend crucially important services to the public.
‘Communication workers are a crucial cog in the UK’s economic success. We will be deciding policies at conference on how best to shape communications industries over the next year.’
Delegates will be joined by actor Ricky Tomlinson on Monday at a lunchtime event in support of the Justice for Shrewsbury Pickets Campaign.
