Samsung has officially announced the arrival of James King as the new head of marketing for the UK.
King starts next month and arrives from Motorola where during an eight-year period, he led campaigns in the UK such as Motorola V3 Razr.
King is the latest high profile recruit to Samsung’s UK team, and will be reporting into fellow new arrival, general manager Derek Williamson, who started this month after he was lured from T-Mobile to head up all of Samsung’s marketing and product management.
Commenting on King’s appointment, Samsung Mobile UK VP Mark Mitchinson said: ‘James has a loyalty and dedication unrivalled in the telecoms industry and I am keen for him to further develop his skills and lead the extraordinary talent in my marketing operation.’
King said: ‘I want the Samsung Mobile brand to be the most sought after in the consumers' eye through maximising the product portfolio, investment and brand strategy to drive consumer engagement to a whole new level.’
Samsung also recruited Matthew Brum from Sony Ericsson last month to take the role of head of product management. Jon French was promoted to general manager for sales.
