LG KF600 driving advert has been banned by ASA

LG’s advert for its KF600 device has been banned by the advertising watchdog after 33 people complained that it would encourage dangerous driving.

The advert showed a woman behind the wheel of a car in a traffic jam tapping the screen of her mobile, before being transported to different scenes, including a speedboat, lounging in the sun and a party.

Viewers complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that it promoted using a phone while driving. However, LG said that the woman was imagining the phone could trigger changing scenarios in her day, and there was no evidence that it encouraged people to use their mobile while driving.

The ASA ruled that ‘the ad could condone viewers’ use of their mobile phones while driving’, so decided to ban it in its current
form.
