Huawei Technologies’ deadline for first-round bids to buy its mobile-devices division ended today.
Huawei has been targeting private-equity companies, including European financial sponsors, as buyers for the unit.
Huawei is open to selling a controlling stake in the unit, which produces handsets, data cards, dongles, convergence terminals, and video products.
The company manufactures the majority of dongles that are sold in Europe, but the main motivation behind the sale of its mobile unit is to try and access the US market.
Vodafone has previously been reported to have been looking at buying the Chinese handset manufacturer.
Huawei currently provides branded mobile handsets to Vodafone.
