T-Mobile improves UK mobile broadband network
T-Mobile has upgraded its UK network by adding what it claims is the UK's first nationwide High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) mobile broadband network.
The improvement means the operator can now offer its mobile customers upload speeds of up to 1.4Mbit/s – which represents up to a five-fold an improvement on previous speeds.
T-Mobile also announced today it has increased its HSDPA speeds to a possible maximum of 7.2 Mb/s within London, and will roll out the enhanced networks to other large cities this year.
T-Mobile UK chief executive Jim Hyde said:
‘We knew mobile broadband would burst on the scene and our continued investment in new technology is paying dividends for customers seeking a fast, consistent service which offers great value.
‘New independent tests show we lead on performance in areas that matter most to customers. We've also addressed the growing passion for sharing photos and videos on social networking sites by hiking up upload speeds across the country.’
