Phones 4u has joined Carphone Warehouse in bundling subsidised laptops with mobile broadband contracts across all of its stores.
However, the free laptop deal is restricted to just Orange dongles so far.
The retailer launched the deals this month, offering a Fujitsu Siemens or a Samsung laptop bundled with a £30-per-month Orange mobile broadband deal.
The Fujitsu Siemens laptop, worth £349.99, will be offered free with Orange mobile broadband, and the Samsung R60 laptop, worth £499.99, will cost £74.95 per broadband deal.
Phones 4u marketing director Jim Slater said: ‘Phones 4u are offering all you need to get online.
In April Phones 4u launched a pilot scheme subsidising plasma TVs and laptops bundled with TV and broadband services from Sky and Virgin. The pilot scheme was trialled in six stores in Birmingham and six in Liverpool.
The company is currently only subsidising laptops with Orange mobile broadband.
A spokeswoman said that there were plans to expand the range and choice of broadband and laptop offerings in the near future, but said that she could not give any more details at present.
Carphone boss Charles Dunstone set out his stall at the beginning of the year to do for laptops what his company did for mobiles - make them free with laptops.
Earlier this month, Carphone launched its Wireless World proposition, which now sees the company stocking three Toshiba laptops, an HP laptop and an Acer laptop, with broadband from TalkTalk, AOL, Orange, T-Mobile and 3.
Industry sources say that Carphone is chasing up to a 10% share of the UK consumer laptop market, which is around four to six million sales per year.
Carphone is aiming to shift its laptop strategy up a gear from next month, with the launch of an own-brand model.
