Former Unique boss McFarnon set for VAT trial
Former Unique boss John McFarnon’s court case for charges relating to VAT fraud will not be heard until next year.
McFarnon (pictured) and Haider Ravjani, the director of IGB, the parent company of defunct distributor Unique, were last month charged with offences relating to the trade of mobile phones between 2005 and 2006.
A statement released by McFarnon’s new employer, Advantage Telecom, last month said it had ‘every confidence’ that the former Unique boss was not involved in any wrongdoing.
HM Revenue and Customs has been given a deadline of 29 August for the submission of its evidence.
McFarnon is scheduled to appear before Kingston Crown Court on 16 January 2009.
