A new desktop mobile phone is attracting interest from the UK’s major networks.

The Burnside P350 (pictured) has a slot for a mobile phone Sim to be inserted, allowing for connection to a private GSM wireless network.

The handset, which was created by Hampshire-based Burnside Telecom, is proving popular with companies that favour hot desking.

Sainsbury’s is installing the P350 in its stores, and three of the major UK networks have signed deals with Burnside to push the new phone.

Burnside boss David Robson said: ‘I know mobile phone dealers are having a really hard time of late. We have a product here that will help develop the business market.

‘Companies that use hot desking are hugely interested in a phone that combines mobile benefits with landline call quality.’

The P350 can also be used as a SMS Gateway to an attached PC, and is able to receive or send text messages from Microsoft Outlook.
