Samsung drops the name Sleek after just four weeks
Samsung has dropped the name Sleek for its latest handset just four weeks after the manufacturer announced it was launching the device.
The bar phone unveiled at the end of June had been marketed as the Sleek, but is now the Samsung U800.
Mobile understands that since the launch, Samsung’s new head of marketing, James King, has had a change of heart over the name.
A spokesman for Samsung said that the handset manufacturer wanted to
keep its phone names consistent across all territories.
The manufacturer has put aside £5m for the U800’s marketing campaign, equalling the amount spent on promoting the Soul. The phone has a three-megapixel camera, a music player and 1GB of internal memory.
