Mobiles reported as most essential piece of technology
Mobile phones have now replaced TV as the most essential piece of technology, according to Carphone Warehouse’s annual Mobile Life report.
The survey of 6,000 adults and children in the UK and the US found that the day of the pen looks to be over, with 50% of Britain’s young people now relying on SMS as their main form of staying in touch.
No-one in the survey said that they used letters as a preferred means to communicate, and only 2% of UK adults still use letters to keep in touch with friends.
The poll also revealed that more than a quarter of 11-18 year-olds (28%) have visited adult websites, and 11% of the same age group had been involved in explicit chats.
