Nokia launches 6220 flagship navigation device
Nokia has launched the 6220, the first of its devices which comes pre-loaded with new Nokia Maps 2.0.
A broad advertising campaign across TV, radio, and print went live last week, aiming to establish Nokia as a navigation brand.
The 6220 includes a GPS location finder and built-in compass, as well as multimedia city guides with information on new restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions and points of interest.
It follows the release of the 3G iPhone, which comes loaded with GPS technology.
New figures from digital world research company comScore show that the number of people using mobile maps in the UK has risen by 72% over the past year from 1.2 million in May 2007 to 2.1 million in May this year.
The percentage of mobile subscribers for mapping in the UK now stands at 4.5%.
