Virgin Media's marketing chief to exit company

Virgin Media’s managing director of brand and marketing has decided to leave the company.

James Kydd, who joined the company following the acquisition of Virgin Mobile in July 2006 is credited with being one of the driving forces behind the launch of Virgin Media in February 2007.

Kydd said: ‘I’m proud of the great work that Virgin Media’s marketing team has done over the last two years. With the brand now firmly established in consumers’ minds, I now believe it’s time for a new challenge.’

CEO at Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, said: ‘James has been one of the key architects of Virgin Media. In an industry not traditionally known for its creative marketing, his work has helped put the Virgin Media brand firmly on the map and establish a distinctive voice for the company.’

Kydd will leave the company in September. A successor has yet to be announced.
