Hugh Symons Communications regional sales manager Sid Abbey is leaving the distributor to join franchise operation Fonehouse.
In May, Fonehouse was given the go-ahead by T-Mobile to launch a franchising business, setting itself the aim of rebranding 35 dealers by the end of the year.
Abbey will not take up his new position at Fonehouse until January 2009, after he has taken three months gardening leave and worked his notice period at Hugh Symons Communications (HSC), where he has worked three times over the past ten years.
HSC sales manager Carlos Pestana said: ‘We’ve worked on an exit plan, Sid’s still with us and working his notice. We wish him all the best when he leaves.’
Fonehouse declined to comment on the appointment, but MD Clive Bayley said: ‘Fonehouse is employing several key industry people to bolster and enhance the success of our partner programme.’
He will join former Hugh Symons employee, Andy Lockwood, who took on the role of business development manager in May.
Fonehouse has already signed up a number of Hugh Symons dealers to its franchise programme.
