European handset chief exits Motorola

Motorola has lost its European chief for handset portfolio, Vik Patel.
Patel is understood to have left the manufacturer around three weeks ago. A source close to the company said that Patel was instrumental in setting up Motorola’s upcoming recovery programme in Europe before he left, with handset launches already in the pipeline. Patel was effectively in charge of handsets for Motorola in Europe.

His departure comes after Motorola’s global president for mobile devices, Stu Reed, left in March after only eight months in the role. Mike Fenger, VP for Europe also left in March, to join Apple.

Motorola’s chief marketing officer, Casey Keller, also left the manufacturer earlier this year.
