Orange wins Blackberry Bold race

Orange wins Blackberry Bold race

RIM's much anticipated BlackBerry Bold has become available sooner than first thought. Orange started selling the device from last Saturday (16 August).

The launch scuppered T-Mobile's hopes of being the first operator to range the device when they begin selling it in September. The Bold, which is the first BlackBerry handset to boast HSDPA, will be available to Orange customers for free on £40 a month tariffs.

3 has also announced that it will range the BlackBerry Bold, with O2 and Vodafone likely to follow.

Along with HSDPA, other features found in the Bold include Wi-Fi, integrated GPS that works in conjunction with the BlackBerry Maps application and the standard push email capabilities found in other BlackBerry devices.

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files will also be able to be viewed and edited direct from the device.
