Samsung launches eight-megapixel camera phone

Samsung last night launched the i8510, the device that has seen the manufacturer prevail over Sony Ericsson to be the first to release an 8 Mega pixel camera phone into the UK market.

Samsung will retail the i8510 exclusively with Carphone Warehouse from September 2008.

Sony Ericsson’s C905 also incorporates the top mega pixel camera and has already been launched, but the Samsung device will hit shops first.

As well as 8 Mega Pixels, the i8510 user can enjoy the latest imaging features; smile shot, multi shot and face recognition. The handset also incorporates an 8GB memory capable of extending to 16GB.

Samsung highlighted that the i8510 provides 'devout gadget addicts with the most innovative 24/7 multimedia entertainment features.’ It also emphasised the range of multimedia applications such as the range of video players and editing software.

‘The Samsung i8510 is another milestone in mobile phone technology,’ said Mark Mitchinson, Vice President of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland.
