Sky strengthens mobile team to build mobile business
Sky has strengthened its mobile team in moves that have been interpreted as a concerted bid to build Sky’s mobile business.
David Gibbs has been promoted to general manager for mobile, and Tim Hussain has joined the subscription TV company to take the new role of head of mobile advertising.
Sky had also recently announced that mobile would be moved into the remit of Emma Lloyd (pictured), business development director. The director of the commercial group, Stephen Nuttall, had previously run Sky’s mobile operations.
Lloyd reports to Nuttall and the mobile content business still sits within Nuttall’s domain.
Sky has split its mobile strategy with a separate division, led by Hussain and Giles Ivey, a senior sales executive at Sky, to focus on mobile advertising. A separate entity with Gibbs and Nuttall will forge ahead with Sky’s strategy to add customers for its Sky Mobile TV, 24-7 football and Sky Anytime services.
