LG unveils its own-brand mini laptop
LG will attempt to cash in on the booming mini laptop market, after announcing the launch of its branded own mini laptop.
The manufacturer unveiled the LG Netbook X110 this week, which it says will be available at an affordable price - expected to be around £320.
The device will be available initially at Phones 4u from late October in three colours – white and pink. A black version will also be made available soon afterwards.
LG enters the market at a time of significant market growth; GFK figures show that only 0.5% of all laptops sold were 7” and 8” in size last December; that figure had risen six-fold to 3% just six months on.
Experts believe sales for mini-laptops could increase ten fold this December compared to last, when 30,00 units of 7” and 8” inch mini laptops were sold in the UK.
The LG Netbook is equipped with WLAN 802.11 b/g and 10/100 Ethernet. It has 80GB of on-board memory, a WSVGA 10-inch widescreen and an 82-key full-size keyboard.
