Carphone and Orange pull out the ad kitty
Orange has had deal promotions in newspapers across its product range; a contract deal on the Sony Ericsson W980 on Dolphin 35, a home broadband offer, and there was enough ad budget left over for a dongle deal.
The home broadband deal at ‘just £6 per month’ comes with no connection fee until 29 September. The fixed-line broadband deal includes free evening and weekend calls. Closer analysis shows that a £6 fee lasts for the first three months and then it is £12 per month after that on a minimum term 18-month contract.
On the dongle front, Orange is offering a ‘little laptop that goes along way with internet everywhere’. The ASUS laptop with Windows XP, has an 8.8-inch screen that fits into your bag (this is surely dependent on the size of the bag!). With mobile broadband, you get 100 free texts from your new laptop and up to 3GB of download available.
All this is ‘just £25 per month’, as long as you are sign to a 24-month contract.
Carphone Warehouse is promoting 3’s mobile broadband with the £10-per-month fee. The deal is subject to signing an 18-month contract.
Carphone Warehouse is also gearing up for prepay, with a £50 Sony Ericsson T303 with the strapline ‘pretty little thing’. The phone comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 player and FM radio.
Vodafone is offering the Sony Ericsson K770i for ‘just £80’. The pay-as-you-talk deal offers users unlimited text rewards when you top-up – understandably, the more you top-up the bigger the reward. The rewards include:
Top-up £5 per month – get unlimited texts on weekday evenings; £10 per month gets unlimited texts on weekday evenings and all weekend; and for £30 per month, you get unlimited texts all day every day.
