Sony Ericsson’s unlimited music store set for October

Sony Ericsson will take on Nokia’s Comes With Music service later this month with its own unlimited music download service.

The service will be branded PlayNowPlus and is currently being trialled in Sweden, where the manufacturer dominates the market.

Sony Ericsson has stressed it will take ‘a far less confrontational’ approach with networks with its proposition in comparison to Nokia. It will launch the service on high-end devices like the W980 (pictured).

Meanwhile, Nokia has failed to secure any network backing for its first Comes With Music phone, the 5310 XpressMusic.

Sony Ericsson has been busy trying to attract music labels, and has a head start, as one of the major record labels, Sony BMG, is a sister company.

The manufacturer currently has a pay-per-track service already in place under its PlayNow service with a fee of 99p per track.
