Android sparks interest from applications makers
Third parties have welcomed the launch of the HTC/Google handset unveiled in New York (click here to see the article). Android, the open source platform provides new opportunities to companies providing content and technology for smartphones.
Music recognition compnay, Shazam's CEO Andrew Fisher said: ‘For content providers and third party applications, the launch of Google Android is certainly exciting. Shazam is very interested in the Android platform and we will be watching it closely.'
However, others were a little more cautious about the impact of Google’s new platform.
Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica said: ‘Google Android is just another smartphone platform that will work with our mobile email and synchronization middleware right out of the box, just as we supported the Apple iPhone when it launched last year.
