O2 carves business operation into eight divisions
O2 has split its business division into eight regional offices as it looks to secure more deals with small businesses across the UK.
The operator intends to use its own resources (stores and direct sales teams) with independent dealers as it claimed it is now the market leader in the SME market with near 40% of the market.
O2’s head of SME, David Plumb, said: ‘All the regions are very different with different needs. London has an almost seamless Wi-Fi network, whereas the outer-reaches of Scotland don’t have that, so you need to have different propositions.’
The company has also see major gains in the corporate area, claiming it has the fastest growth, and closing in on market leader Vodafone. It has recently landed big deals with large corporate accounts such as a 25,000 handset deal with Network Rail, Saint Gobain for around 7,500 handsets as well as Homeserve, BMW, Halfords, Blockbuster and Wachovia.
O2 will also move to an ongoing commission scheme from 1 October.
