RIM launches new application centre

RIM, the leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions, has released details confirming the launch of its new application centre.

In a bid to compete with the Google Android application market or the Apple iTunes ‘App Store’, which saw download levels reach an astounding 100 million in the first two months preceding its launch, it has announced the availability of a new tool for creating and testing innovative programmes.

The centre provides a previously non-existent method for BlackBerry to distribute applications to its users .To date there has not been a main repository for BlackBerry applications, other than a small section on its website.

The developer tools consist of new editions of the BlackBerry, Java Development Environment (BlackBerry JDE), enabling the fast adaptation of mobile applications, along with desktop simulators.

The new opportunity allows users to access the innovative BlackBerry JDE additions and simulators, available for download, free of charge at www.blackberry.com/developers.
