Bond takes Vodafone strategy role

Mark Bond will be confirmed as Vodafone’s new UK strategy director in the coming days, MobileToday can reveal.

The former interim enterprise director (previously sales and marketing head) was passed over for a permanent position as enterprise chief after former Nortel chief, Peter Kelly, was confirmed in the role last month.

Bond now takes an equally senior position, looking at the UK business’s five-year plan, covering both the consumer and enterprise division. He will report to CEO Nick Read and, from January, the new CEO Guy Laurence.

Bond now has a board-level position, after six months as acting enterprise chief. A major part of Bond’s new role will be leading Vodafone’s move into fixed-line broadband and becoming ‘a unified communications provider’.

Current commercial chief Ian Shepherd briefly held the post of strategy director.

Vodafone was unable to comment at the time of writing.
