High sales for T-Mobile's G1 Google phone on launch
T-Mobile sold around 150 G1 Google phones on launch day at one store on Oxford Street Mobile understands.

The handset, exclusive to T-Mobile, was pre-launched in London stores on the 30 October. According to staff, queues stretched out of the door from 7am. The handset will reach T-Mobile shops nationwide on 1 November.

The device is being marketed as free for £40 per month. This divides into a £35 per month tariff with an addition of £5 per month unlimited internet. It includes 800 minutes and unlimited texts.

Special T-Mobile reps clad in pink jackets were at the launch, in-store all day enticing people to enter a competition to win a free G1 phone.

The G1 offers full touch-screen functionality plus a QWERTY keyboard for online communication, high speed internet with popular Google services already on board, and access to application downloads from the new Android Market.

Mobile is awaiting comment from T-Mobile.
